Cairo, Feb. 22 (BNA)– Human Rights Affairs Minister Dr. Salah bin Ali Abdulrahman met Head of Egypt’s National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) Hassan Al Ghiryani, in the presence of NCHR Secretary General Dr. Abdullah Al Asha’al.
They discussed issues of mutual concern, pertaining mainly to the human rights field, as well as ways of boosting cooperation in the next phase.
The Human Rights Affairs Minister underscored Bahrain’s keen interest to boost the culture of human rights since the launch of the comprehensive reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
He also updated the NCHR Head on the national initiatives carried out by the Bahraini government to honour its obligations towards the UN bodies.
He briefed him on Bahrain’s first national report which was discussed over two days before the Arab Commission for Human Rights at the Arab League headquarters.
He also reviewed progress of the National Consensus Dialogue in discussing political issues which will contribute to bolstering national unity.
He stressed Bahrain’s need for a sustainable national consensus based on renouncing violence and justifying it to press ahead with the reform and development march in all fields.
He also voiced regret over false and misleading information being given about Bahrain, urging to ascertain of the accuracy of information by getting them from official and trust-worthy sources.
On his part, the NCHR Head lauded the royal intiative to resume the National Consensus Dialogue and push ahead with the reform and development march.
The meeting was attended by Bahraini Ambassador to Egypt Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa and Human Rights Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Coordination and Follow-up Khalifa Al Ka’abi.
