Manama, June11(BNA)Human Rights Minister Dr. Salah bin Ali Abdulrahman today received Kuwait-based Austrian Ambassador to Bahrain Ulrich Frank and stressed joint cooperation in all fields. The minister outlined Bahrain’s strides, citing particularly the establishment of watchdogs and the official steps which were undertaken to modernise Bahrain’s laws and legislations.

He affirmed Bahrain’s determination to continue efforts to foster human rights, pointing out in this regard the law on the National Institution of Human Rights (NIHR), which was recently passed in the Parliament to ensure the independence of the watchdog in line with Paris Principles. He also emphasised Bahrain’s openness on all countries to consolidate cooperation and exchange human rights expertise, pointing out the establishment of the Commission on the Rights of Prisoners and Detainees. Austrian Ambassador Ulrich Frank stressed the opportunisties of joint cooperation to promote the march of human rights in Bahrain.
