Human Rights Minister receives British Ambassador

Manama, Aug 21 (BNA) – Minister of Human Rights Affairs, Dr. Salah bin Ali Abdul-Rahman, today received British Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Ian Lindsay.
Dr. Abdul-Rahman stressed the strength of the historic friendly relations that tie both Kingdoms, and hailed British government’s support for the Bahrain’s continuing reforms and the government’s policy in running political, democratic, human rights and economic files, by benefiting from the rich British experience, as well as the British Embassy’s call for all Bahraini political parties renouncing violence and resuming the national consensus dialogue sessions, as scheduled to be reconvened on 28 of current month.

He underlined the government’s keenness, as a government of institutions and law, to safeguard the rights and freedoms of all citizens, residents and visitors alike.
The Human Rights Minister discussed Bahrain’s participation in the new session of the UN Human Rights Council meetings in Geneva, in September 2013, and hailed the prestigious British experience in the legal field and the ministry’s aspiration to carry out training programs, exchange of experiences, field visits and holding joint workshops in Bahrain in the field of human rights.

On his part, British Ambassador confirmed bolstering bilateral cooperation in various fields, and called on benefiting from the numerous opportunities available in the field of training, capacity building and the wide British experience in the legal field and administrative reform.
