MANAMA, BAHRAIN (NBC) – Hundreds of families took part part in record breaking attempt at a water park in Bahrain on Friday.
The Wahoo! water park near Bahrain’s capital took part in what’s called “The largest swimming lesson in the world.”
More than 40,000 swimmers from over 20 countries were expected to take part in a simultaneous swimming lesson.
This is the fifth year of the swimming lesson and Jamie Charlesworth said it’s to encourage parents to teach their children to swim.
According to the World Health Organization, drowning is the third leading cause of death in children up to five years old.
