Iftar Programme at the Sri Lanka Embassy in Bahrain

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Kingdom of Bahrain conducted an Iftar programme on 21st July 2013 in its premises located in capital Manama. The event, hosted by Ambassador R.K.M.A. Rajakaruna, was attended by a group of 100 Muslim and non-Muslim Sri Lankans.

Speaking at the gathering, Ambassador Rajakaruna appreciated the active role that is being played by the Sri Lankans of Islamic faith to promote Sri Lanka’s relationship with the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He also stated that with the dawn of peace and the restoration of normalcy, the Government of Sri Lanka under the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been endeavoring to promote national harmony and achieve progress for all the Sri Lankans.

Representatives of several Sri Lanka organizations in Bahrain also attended the event, highlighting the spirit of oneness and brotherhood prevailing within the Sri Lankan community.

The programme was coordinated by Sri Lankan members of “Discover Islam” and “Darul Eman”. The event was well received as it was the first Iftar conducted in the newly established Embassy, symbolizing the unity of Sri Lankans living in Bahrain.
