Indebted Indian Man Commits Suicide in Bahrain

Dubai:  A 41-year-old heavily indebted Indian mechanic who ran a garage has allegedly committed suicide in Bahrain.

Pramu Sudheer, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his Muharraq City labour accommodation along with a suicide note on Saturday morning.

Mr Sudheer who hailed from Kerala hanged himself from a ceiling fan on Saturday morning, his cousin Prasanna Kumar was quoted as saying by the Gulf Daily news.

“Police is investigating into the matter and as soon as we receive a no objection certificate from them, we will surely send the body back to India,” Indian Embassy charge d’affaires Ram Singh told PTI.

“It is our duty to do every bit to send the body back as he was an Indian and Embassy will do all the possible things,” Mr Singh said.

“A suicide note was recovered that said he was in a lot of debt which he could not repay,” said Mr Kumar.

Mr Sudheer had been in Bahrain for seven years, according to his cousin, but had not been able to return home to visit his family even once.

He always said that he was in a lot of debt and everything that he earned was not enough to meet his expenses, Mr Kumar said.

Mr Sudheer is survived by his wife Kala Sudheer and two children aged 12 and seven.
