Indian School holds annual Sports Day

Bahrain: The Indian School Bahrain held its 37th annual Sports Day yesterday at its Isa Town campus.

More than 6,000 students took part in the event which is the culmination of a month-long series of competitions in 120 individual track and field events such as shot-put, discus throw, javelin throw, long jump and relay races.

The event started with an opening ceremony during which the school’s flag was hoisted by chairman Prince S Natarajan.

Dressed in colourful costumes of various states of India, students took part in a display procession reflecting the theme of ‘unity in diversity’, followed by a march-past led by the school band.

The chief guest of the event was Kerala State Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb who honoured the winners and presented them with trophies, medals and mementos.

The winners are:

Super Senior Boys: Joel Bernard 

Super Senior Girls: Gladwin Jessy Sunny

Senior Boys: Ashish Varghese

Senior Girls: Fathima Safina

Pre-senior Boys: Sarath Raj and Muhammed Muflih 

Pre-senior Girls: Amal Subair

Junior Boys: Mohammed Jameel

Junior Girls: Adila Isha

Sub-junior Boys: Steve Hanoph John

Sub-junior Girls: Swati Ravi Nair
