Interior Minister Condemns Riffa Mosque Terror Blast

Manama-July-18(BNA) Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa chaired in the presence of Minister of State for Interior Affairs, Major-General Adel bin Khalifa Al Fadhel on Thursday morning a meeting for security officials of the Interior Ministry and Directors of Police Directorates.
At the beginning of the meeting, the minister expressed his thanks and appreciation to the role of policemen in the protection of the nation and citizens. He said that the terror act in the parking of Shaikh Isa bin Salman mosque in Riffa while people were praying traweeh is rejected and condemned. He affirmed that such criminal acts are against Islam, the law and humanity and are far from the traditional values of Bahraini society that is known for tolerance, social peace and rejection of terrorism and violence. He condemned that some people thought of committing such criminal act against innocent people who were praying in the house of God during the holy month of Ramadan.

The minister was briefed during the meeting about security procedures that various security departments of the Interior Ministry have been taken. He also listened to a technical report on how the terror explosion occurred in front of the mosque, in which initial information indicate that it occurred in the same method of explosions that took place in other areas through the use of two gas cylinders that were connected to electric circuit.

The meeting reviewed security and legal procedures to identify those behind the terror attack to arrest and bring them to justice. The general security situations in various governorates were also reviewed.
The minister directed to reinforce security presence, in which he affirmed that the work of security authorities are within the law and cover all security disturbers. He concluded by hailing the efforts of policemen in all sectors and locations and their major sacrifices and dedication that helped in foiling many terror attempts and arresting involved suspects. He affirmed that all are standing with policemen to support them in performing their duties and confronting terrorism that targets the nation and its safety.
