Iran’s national youth football team has sealed its second dramatic victory at the qualification round of the 2016 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-16 Championship, trouncing the Indian outfit.
Iranians, who thrashed Lebanon 3-1 in their opening match of the event on September 16, routed the Indian squad 3-0 in a Group E match played at the Gostaresh Foulad Stadium in Iran’s northwestern city of Tabriz on Friday.
The Persians applied a spell of pressure on India’s goal since the beginning moments of the match, and Mohammad Sharifi opened the scoring for the hosts in the 17th minute.
Amir Khodamoradi doubled Iran’s lead two minutes from the interval, and the hosts went into the breather with a two-goal lead.
The Persians maintained their pressure on the Indian team as they returned to action. Mohammad Ghaderi seized a golden opportunity in the 65th minute and put the ball into the back of the net to make it three for Iran.

The victory helped Iran move to the top of Group E table with six points.
Earlier in the day, national Bahraini youth football team defeated Lebanon 2-1 in a match played at the Yadegar Emam Stadium in Tabriz.
National Iranian youth football team is in Group E along with Bahrain, India and Lebanon.
It will return to action on September 20, when it takes on Bahrain in its third qualifier.
The 2016 AFC U-16 Championship, which will be the 17th edition of the tournament, is scheduled to be played between September 15 and October 2, 2016 in India.
