Just weeks after apologizing for her political gaffe tweets about Israel-Palestine conflict, which angered Arabs across the world, Kim Kardashian touched down in the Gulf to launch two franchises of her Millions of Milkshake shop.

The reality star first landed in Kuwait where she was welcomed by the U.S. Ambassador to Kuwait, Matthew Tueller. The excited starlet tweeted a picture of the pair, announcing her arrival in Kuwait via Twitter, “Just touched down in Kuwait!!! Riding to the hotel now! So excited to be here!” Entertainmentwise has reported.

However, her arrival in Bahrain, the second stop for the launch of her milkshake franchise was not received well.

The second branch of the milkshake shop was launched in The Walk Bahrain, an upmarket mall in the capital Manama. While Kardashian proceeded with the inauguration, riot police had to use tear gas to disperse about 100 Sunni Salafists who had gathered outside the mall protesting Kim’s arrival, Reuters has reported.

Apparently, the protestors chanted “God is Great” and also held banners. There were no causalities reported, Sky News has stated.

Back home, the launch of a franchise of the milkshake shop would have probably gone unnoticed, but the same cannot be said for the 32-year-old beauty’s fans in the Middle East.

Thousands of screaming fans had gathered to catch a glimpse of Kardashian. The cost of each ticket shot up to 500 Bahraini Dinars ($ 1,360).

Kardashian caused a stir in Bahrain even before her arrival. Reuters cited a local English newspaper stating that hardline Sunni Muslim MPs presented a motion in the parliament calling her “an actress with an extremely bad reputation”. Fortunately for Kim, the motion was not heard and she successfully inaugurated her milkshake branch.

The local newspaper also reported that many Kardashian fans in Bahrain were unhappy with the MPs’ actions as they angrily tweeted: “MPs should focus their time on solving key political, economic and social issues.”

Tweeting on Bahrain, the reality star called it “the prettiest place on earth,” which was promptly re-tweeted by the Bahrain Foreign Minister.
