LETTER: US cowardice abroad reverberates – Press

Cowardice reverberates

As a World War II veteran I am appalled by the recent Obama administration reaction to the so called “chatter” by unnamed “sources” making threats against our embassies around the world. Obama had ample warning of embassy threats when the shameful Benghazi debacle went down.

The U.S. Marine Corps was created in 1775 to “project American power worldwide” and to face down just such threats, with which they have dealt ever since.

The cowardly closure of 21 embassies around the world sends a clear message to the rabble in these armpit countries that the United States of America will cut and run at the slightest sign of a threat, and, as shown in Benghazi, will not defend our people in harm’s way when terrorists do attack.

These “chatter” threats were a direct foreseeable result of our cowardice in the Benghazi affair. There was ample time to beef up the embassies around the world with sufficient Marines and firepower to kick butt and reassert the American presence in these countries. Semper Fidelis, not cut and run, needs to be adopted as a motto by Obama, et al.
