Live coverage of new Suez Canal inauguration

Manama, Aug.4 (BNA): Bahrain TV will transmit live the inauguration of the new Suez Canal in cooperation with the Egyptian Television. The joint live coverage marks the participation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa in the opening of the strategic water artery which will boost international trade.

The Information Affairs Authority (IAA) News Centre concocted a special programme which was broadcast tonight at 9 PM live. The TV programme hosted Egyptian Ambassador to Bahrain Essam Saleh Awad, Shura Council member Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Ajman and other political and economic analysts from Bahrain and Egypt.

Bahrain TV and Egyptian Television will broadcast tomorrow at 10.30 PM a joint programme which will focus on key political, economic and cultural issues. The programme will host Bahraini and Egyptian personalities to shed light on multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries. Reports spotlighting the Egyptian community and Bahraini students enrolled at the Egyptian universities will also be aired.

On Thursday, Bahrain TV will broadcast live the inauguration of the new Suez Canal, which will be attended by Arab and foreign leaders. Bahrain TV will also broadcast on Saturday at 10 PM a musical concert in tribute to iconic Egyptian singer Om Kalthoum marking the 40th anniversary of her death. Bahrain radio station has also concocted a string of special programmes highlighting deep-rooted historic, political and economic relations bonding Bahrain and Egypt.
