MANAMA: Bahrain yesterday launched an ‘immediate’ crackdown on the scourge of terrorism as part of efforts to maintain national security.
The Premier ordered tough measures to be taken immediately against terrorists and their backers.
He directed the clampdown against all those who harbour terrorists, finance them or incite them to commit terrorists acts.
The crackdown will also target any attempt to subvert security and disrupt the pillars of national stability.
“Such people have neither loyalty nor any sense of belonging to this homeland,” His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa said as he chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting.
“The Premier ordered the Ministry of Interior to take the necessary measures within its legal prerogatives,” said Cabinet secretary-general Dr Yasser bin Essa Al Nasser.
The Premier also directed the government team in charge of co-ordinating with the parliamentary committee on the Government Action Plan to co-operate fully regarding MPs’
visions and remarks.
He directed the Ministry of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning to renew the expired licences of fishermen in a bid to ensure them the necessary support and preserve their livelihood.
The Janusan housing project was also discussed.
