Microsoft workshop big boost for Bahraini youth

MANAMA: A workshop with the aim of strengthening the capacity of youth and professional civil society organisations through technology was held at the Gulf Convention Centre.

It was held under the patronage of General Organisation for Youth and Sport (Goys) president Hisham Al Jowdar.

It was organised by Bahrain Internet Society (BIS) and Microsoft.

Mr Al Jowdar praised the efforts of BIS in creating the awareness of youth in ICT and its fruitful co-operation with Microsoft, that produced many activities geared for Bahrainis with a special emphasis on the workshop held to strengthen the capabilities of civil society institutions.

BIS president Nawaf Abdulrahman highlighted the society’s work and its relationship with Microsoft and their joint ventures that seek to help Bahraini youth and different sections of the society to provide them with the technological thrust that would serve the development of the local economy.

Microsoft regional country manager for Bahrain and Oman Tareq Hijazi highlighted latest IT products and services for individuals, as well as the public and private sector institutions.

Microsoft Egypt citizenship manager Ghada Khalifa attended the event to brief participants about Microsoft’s software donation initiative for non-profit organisations.
