Top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh was defeated in the men’s singles quarter-finals at the 2015 Bahrain International Challenge in Isa Town, Bahrain, on November 5.
Number one seed Minh lost to the number 11 seed, India’s Sameer Verma 21-17, 14-21, 9-21.
After easily defeating weaker rivals in the previous matches, world number 42 Minh was confident at the start of play.
He breezed past Verma in the first set. However, with better physical strength, Verma won the remaining sets.
Meanwhile, Vietnamese player Pham Cao Cuong lost in the first round, and world number 56 Vu Thi Trang lost to an American rival in the second round.
The tournament will end on November 7.
