Manama, June 2nd (BNA) –On the sidelines of the High-level meeting of the 23rd session at Human Rights Council in Geneva under the chairmanship of Minister of Human Rights Affairs, Dr. Salah Bin Ali Abdul Rahman, Kingdom of Bahrain’s participating delegation met with the permanent Ambassador of the Republic of India in Geneva, Dilip Sinha. The delegation also met with Ambassador of the Republic of Pakistan in Geneva and the General Coordinator of the Islamic group at the Human Rights Council, Zamir Akram.
At the beginning of the meeting, the minister highlighted the strength of the cooperation and friendship relationships between Kingdom of Bahrain, and Republic of India and Republic of Pakistan, aspiring to reinforce such relations in the area of human rights.
During the meeting, Dr. Salah pointed out the need of the political community’s components in Bahrain to have consensus in line with democratic reforms frameworks for the next phase, in a way to develop a sustainable national solution that contributes in strengthening the pillars of security, stability and prosperity of the people of Bahrain.
The minister stressed that India and Pakistan have witnessed acts of violence, terrorism and hatred during the past years, and it has become clear that there is no stability and security with the presence of violence and terrorism, and that the only means to stave the country from dispersion is to have more unity, and serious and responsible national dialogue, which will revitalize the national economy.
The minister also pointed out the desire to benefit from the Indian experience in the area of melting the social components, particularly the Indian community is characterized with its political and religious plurality, and that was not a barrier for its prosperity and growth, as well as achieving the aspirations of the Indian people.
The minister also highlighted the desire to benefit from the Pakistani experience in the area of anti-terrorism and spreading the culture of human rights among the local communities which witness social, political and class differences from one area to another.
The minister said that inciting the Bahraini young people and kids with obnoxious sectarianism, is one of the reasons for this category to commit such acts of violence and vandalism, in addition to confronting police forces who are performing their duties in preserving the security and stability of the people and their properties.
For his part, the Indian Ambassador thanked the minister for briefing him on the latest developments in Bahrain, and said that the regional peace is very essential, and that peace in Bahrain is positively reflected on the conditions of the Indian Community in Bahrain. He also said that the work of Human Rights Council should be constructive and supports countries to resolve their issues, and help them in improving people’s standard of living.
For his part, the Pakistani Ambassador also expressed his understanding of the challenges facing Bahrain and the Islamic World, and recommended to be in contact with U.N. Human Rights mechanisms, expressing his readiness to help in any issue in coordination with the permanent representative of Kingdom of Bahrain.
