Rome, June 18 (BNA) – Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Dr. Jumaa bin Ahmed Al-Kaabi, affirmed, during presiding the Bahraini delegation at the 38th session of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Conference, currently held in Rome, the Kingdom of Bahrain is interested in developing the agricultural sector to keep pace with other sectors, in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, through employing available agricultural potentials with the use of the expertise and modern technologies, in addition the Kingdom acts within the GCC countries and signing agreements and memorandums of understanding with other sisterly and friendly countries, in order to achieve food security and provide a decent life for the Bahraini citizens.
He noted the Kingdom has hosted the 2010-2012 global exhibitions on animal production under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, aimed at exchanging experiences and acquiring modern technologies and methods that contribute to the promotion of livestock production.
He praised efforts of women in achieving food security, and the support of HRH Princes Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Chairperson of Bahrain Supreme Advisory Council of the National Initiative for the development of agricultural sector, and her efforts in upgrading agricultural and livestock sector in the Kingdom.
He concluded, during this conference a general framework for food and agriculture strategy will be reviewed, and a strategic action plan for the years (2014-2017) will be adopted.
