Manama, January 26 (BNA) — Under the patronage of His Highness, Shaikh Nasser, president of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, the president of Bahrain Olympic Committee, the 16th Asian Handball Championship was yesterday inaugurated in Isa Town at Khalifa Sports City stadiums.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Abdula Rahman Askar, the acting secretary-general for Bahrain Olympic Committee along with a number of ambassadors and sport officials of Bahrain and Asian countries.

Sheikh Nasser affirmed that the hosting of this tournament in the Kingdom of Bahrain comes in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in supporting the sports movement Bahraini in general and the handball sport in particular. Especially that the Handball has many recent achievements.

He also said that having the 16th Asian Handball Championship in the Kingdom of Bahrain with the participation of the Asian teams serves the ambitions of Bahrain to drive the handball sport movement ahead.

His Highness wished the tournament to witness a strong competition among all the teams and bring them to the levels of excellence that confirms what has reached the Asian handball in the evolution of the level of technical Mtnumeia for all the teams success.

At the end, Shaikh Nasser praised the great efforts made by the Bahrain Handball Federation and the High Organizing Committee of the tournament for organizing this championship, which reflects the true image of Bahrain for hosting all kind of sports events.
