New panel for skills competition established in Bahrain

Education Minister Dr Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi has formed a new National Committee for Skills Competitions.
The committee is chaired by the acting director of technical and vocational education Dr Mohammed Abdul Razzak.
The committee, with 14 members representing government and private sectors, will supervise preparations for the national, regional and international skills competitions.
The committee has been set up following Bahrain’s success in the Third GCC skills competition which was hosted by Bahrain under the patronage of the chairman of the SCYS and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in which Bahrain clinched four medals.
SCW highlights women’s role in national progress
The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) started its Ramadan Majlis programme this year with a meeting discussing the role of civil society establishments in promotion of women’s participation in economic and social development.
SCW’s member and President of Bahrain Society for Women Development Shaikha Lubna bint Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa said the council aims to prepare Bahraini women to take on differnet challenges on the path of putting Bahrain to the road of development and progress.
The meeting was the first of a number of events announced by SCW as part of its Ramadan programme, which includes a series of television programmes that aim to highlight carried out by the council within the framework of the national plan for the advancement of Bahraini women. The meetings will be held in cooperation with Bahrain Women Union.
Ministry supports Ta’a Al Shabab Festival
For the sixth consecutive year, the ministry of culture continued to patronage the cultural activites by young talented Bahraini youths, as reflected in the annual Ta’a Al Shabab’s festival slated for August 30 to September 19.
Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammad Al Khalifa received the festival’s organising committee president, deputy and other officials to review the preparations for the upcoming festival. Ta’a Al Shabab is an annual youth cultural festival which was launched in 2009 with the support of the cultural ministry to direct Bahrain’s youth towards cultural and intellectual undertakings.
Through a series of programmes related to architecture, reading, research, literature, music and technology, young people are provided with the opportunity to interact and learn while sharing their knowledge and experiences with each other.
The festival was conceived by the respected late teacher Mohammed Al Banki to to promote cultural spirit in the Bahraini community.
Real estate tradingexceeds BD722m
Head of Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB) Shaikh Salman bin Abdulla Al Khalifa has said that Bahrain made a major leap in the real estate trading in the first half of 2014, with a total real estate trading of BD722.66 million, an increase of 44 per cent compared to the first half of last year.
The SLRB head said that the volume of trading in the second quarter has amounted to BD78,310,885 million, with an increase of 23 per cent compared to last year.
He ascribed this growth to Bahrain’s positive economic environment, which has promoted the confidence of real estate investors in Bahrain.
