NUWAIDRAT Club made history after they claimed their first ever basketball title by defeating Manama Club 68-65 in the final match of the Bahrain Youth League played last night in Um Al Hassam.
The quarters of the game were as follows: 12-11 (Nuwaidrat), 18-17 (Nuwaidrat), 20-17 (Manama), 21-17 (Nuwaidrat).
The best scorers for Nuwaidrat were Hussain Abdulhussain who finished with 22 points, along with team captain Hassan Abbas who added 20.
Manama’s best scorers were Mohammed Ameer who hit 28 points, along with Mohsin Ali who had 10.
It was Nuwaidrat’s first basketball title in all the age categories, and they succeeded to make themselves among the champions in the Bahrain basketball history, thanks to their national youth coach Hassan Maki who guided the team masterfully.
For Manama, they were looking for their fifth title of the season after winning the cup and super cup titles in men’s category, and the youth cup title along with the U-14 league title. However, the team was out of form and played one of their worst games this season.
After the end of the final match, Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) board member and Head of National Teams Committee Ali Al Khaja presented the silver medals to Manama team players, and the gold medals with the league title to Nuwaidrat team members, who celebrated the title along with Nuwaidrat Club board members.
