Oman kicked off its qualifying campaign for the AFC U19 Championship with a convincing 2-0 win over Bahrain in the opening match of the Group E in Ramallah, Palestine, on Tuesday. 

The group also comprises hosts Palestine. Syria, which was in the group, has withdrawn from the qualifiers. Oman next meets Palestine on Thursday before Bahrain plays its final group match against Palestine on October 12.

There are nine groups in all in qualifying. All the group winners and the next six best finishers, along with main tournament hosts Myanmar, will play in the 2014 event.
