Manama: The temperatures are beginning to cool in the desert, signalling the start to an exciting new season of top-class racing at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC).
On Saturday, “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East” will host speed enthusiasts of all skill levels as the first Open Track Night of the new year takes place in Sakhir.
Open Track is one of the most popular public activities on offer at BIC.
Participants will be able to drive their very own cars or motorbikes along BIC’s world-renowned 5.412-kilometre Grand Prix track – the same raced on by today’s most talented drivers competing in the upcoming FIA World Endurance Championship.
The Open Track activity will have the added spectacle of racing under BIC’s state-of-the-art track floodlighting system.
Action will be held from 4pm to 11pm.
Those interested in taking part may choose between driving for the full evening at BD105 per person, or for just half of the time for BD75.
Those wishing to drive for only a single 30-minute session may do so for BD40. Others in attendance will also have a chance to get in on the action as a passenger of one of the participating cars. They must pay an additional BD12.
All those who book in advance will be given a discount.
Saturday’s activity will be run to the highest of international safety standards, although participants will still be able to push their cars or motorbikes to their very limit.
All vehicles must first go through scrutineering before being allowed to take to the track. Those taking part must also own a valid driver’s licence and must be wearing the appropriate clothing along with closed-toe footwear.
