Policeman killed in bomb explosion in Bahrain

MANAMA, July 6 (Xinhua) — The Bahraini Interior Ministry said Saturday that a policeman was killed by the explosion of a homemade bomb planted by anti-government protesters.

The bomb attack in Sitra came one day after police confiscated a large amount of weapons and ammunition at a warehouse during a raid in Tubli village, where an underground storage facility was found. The seized weapons included some guns, silencers and materials for making explosives.

Bahraini Anti-government protesters in the past week intensified their activities ahead of an expected announcement by an online group that started the “Bahrain Tamarod (Rebellion) Movement” and called for nationwide protests on Aug. 14.

The group is similar to a rebellion campaign launched by young Egyptians, who have recently succeeded in toppling Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi.
