Protesters Take to the Streets in Bahrain despite Ban

14 de diciembre de 2012, 17:30Manama, Dec 14 (Prensa Latina) A crowd of protesters invaded today the streets in this capital, demanding democratic reforms and to protest against the wave of arrests of anti-monarchy activists.

The protest followed the end of the noon prayer and protestants marched to downtown, where riot forces were stationed.

Demonstrators chanted slogans against the king of Bahrain, Hamad bin Issa al Khalifa, who last month banned the protests, and amid a series of convictions against democracy activists and doctors and nurses who violated his order to serve those wounded in protests.

Since the start of the demonstrations against the monarchy dozens of people were killed and hundreds injured in clashes with police that has used excessive force to disperse them.
