Qatar have been drawn in Group B of the Asian Men’s Volleyball championship in a ceremony held in Tehran, the host city.
Qatar’s rivals in the group are Australia, India and Turkmenistan.
The other teams participating in the biennial tournament are Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, China, Korea, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. The tournament runs from July 31 to August 8.
Group A is made up of Iran, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Oman, Chinese Taipei, while Group C has South Korea, Thailand, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. China, Japan, Sri Lanka and Bahrain are drawn in Group D.
Qatar will launch their campaign against Australia on August 1 and will play their second match against India on August 2.
The top three teams in the event will qualify for World Olympic Qualification Tournament to be held in May.
