RCO To Build Bahrain Public Library In Jerusalem

Occupied Jerusalem, Aug. 20 (BNA)— The Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) Secretary General Dr. Mustafa Sayed signed a cooperation agreement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to fund the construction and operation of Bahrain Public Library Project in Jerusalem.
The agreement, which was signed by UNDP Representative Khalid Shahwan, was concluded in Jerusalem, in the presence of Palestinian Culture Minister Dr. Anwar Abu Aisha, Palestinian Ambassador to Bahrain Taha Mohammed Abdul Qader, RCO Assistant Secretary General for Planning and Development of Charity Resources Yussef Yaqoob Al Abdullah and RCO Planning and Projects Director Ibrahim Dalhan Al Dussari.

The RCO Secretary General lauded the UNDP projects for the Palestinian people, stressing Bahrain’s keenness to promote the cultural side of the Palestinian people.

He pointed out that Bahrain Public Library Project is in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the RCO Honorary President, and the support of RCO Board of Trustees Chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.


He revealed that the delegation was tasked by Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa to coordinate to revamp a historic home adjacent to the library or close to it, in Jerusalem, and transform it into a cultural centre for the Palestinians.

On his part, the Palestinian Culture Minister extended thanks and respect to the leadership and people of Bahrain for their support to the Palestinian Cause, lauding Bahrain’s key role in fostering the Arabian Identity of Jerusalem.

He lauded strong bilateral relations and the numerous projects carried out by Bahrain in Palestine, stressing that the cultural edifice being implemented by Bahrain will boost the cultural role of Jerusalem as a permanent capital of the Arab culture.
