Sunday, January 20, 2013 – Islamabad—Pakistan’s renowned singer Mehnaz Begum passed away after protracted illness at the age of 54-55 on Saturday.
Media reports said she was going to United States for her treatment, when she breathed her last in Bahrain.
Mehnaz had sung a variety of genres but specializes in ghazal, thumri, dadra, kahyal, drupad and reciting salam, noha and marsiya.She was the daughter of celebrated sub-continental singer Kajjan Begum and the famous government officer Abdullah Tasnim, but when she realized fame, she changed her maiden name to the current one.
The famous Pakistani singer had moved to the United States after getting married.
