MANAMA, Bahrain — The USO brought some special guests to Naval Support Attachment Bahrain Monday to meet and entertain personnel serving on the Middle East base.
This year, Marine Corps Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, came along with musician Chris Daughtry, actress Elizabeth Banks, comedian and writer David Wain, and comedian Sydney Castillo.
Also joining the entertainment troupe were musicians Kyle Jacobs, Brett James, Billy Montana, and Boston Red Sox players Heath Hembree and Steven Wright.
Dunford said this tour is an opportunity for him to thank the troops for what they do and to acknowledge the sacrifices they are making this holiday.
“I can say people back home actually care about you and people back home are supporting you, but when I bring people from back home to actually be out there, it delivers the messages much more effectively than I can deliver myself,” he said.
The stop in Bahrain is part of a three-continent USO tour to entertain troops serving overseas during the holiday season.
