Manama, June 5 (BNA) — His Majesty the King’s Personal Representative and President of Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa stressed the Kingdom of Bahrain eagerness to adopting principles of sustainable development to balance between the needs of national development, infrastructure and protection of the environment and the conservation of natural resources, in particular the living ones.
The King’s Personal Representative said, on the occasion of world environment day 2013) and under the slogan of (Think, Eat, Save), with the aim of reducing food and food waste, the Kingdom of Bahrain shares with the whole world the importance of developing the concepts of the optimal use of resources, especially in the this region which suffers shortage of sweet water, food resources and severe climate.
He affirmed the initiatives of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty and President of the Supreme Council for women have reached their targets and enhanced the levels of sustainable investment in agricultural and social sectors with providing new job opportunities for citizens supported by social and economic welfare, adding HRH Princess sabeeka attaches high importance, in this respect, and encourages the Bahraini community to improve agricultural environments.
He concluded the Kingdom of Bahrain, in cooperation with the United Nations Environment Program, aims at implementing international resolutions and a committing to environmental conventions and treaties to benefit from environmental plans and program, in order to create a balanced, clean and civilized environment.
