Manama, Jan 27 (BNA) – In the framework of joint cooperation between the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) and the municipal councils and private sector institutions in Bahrain, SCE Deputy Chairman Dr. Mohammed Mubarak bin Dina, Deputy Chairman of Muharraq Municipal Council Ali Yacoub Al-Muqla and Deputy Chairman for infrastructure development and maintenance at Bahrain Airport Company Eng. Abdulla Janahi, today paid an inspection visit to Dohat Arad Reservation to be familiarized with development of the infrastructure and pollutants affecting the environment in some parts of the reservation.
The parties toured the estuaries along the reservation coastline that form natural fish incubators and sanctuaries for local coastal and migratory birds.
Water and sediment samples were taken from the site to learn about their composition and how they travelled down to the estuaries in order to address them and create an appropriate environment.
SCE Deputy Chairman listened to the local citizens and Dohat Arad reservation goers, and also to proposals of the Bahrain Airport delegation, including erosion of pollutants from adjacent spaces by rain water.
Al-Muqla commended the SCE’s efforts in flowing up sources of pollution in Dohat Arad Reservation and the keenness of Muharraq Municipal members to cooperate with relevant agencies for the public interest.
