A school for children of Syrian refugees has begun operating in northern Jordan, Kol Yisrael radio reported on Sunday. According to the report, 3,400 students are attending the school, which is located at the Zaatari refugee camp near Jordan’s border with Syria. The school is being run by the Jordanian Education Ministry in cooperation with UNICEF.

According to Kol Yisrael, the government of Bahrain funded the establishment of the school at a cost of two million dollars. The UN estimates that 440,000 refugees have fled the ongoing civil war in Syria.
