Manama: EIGHT professionals and 14 amateur fighters joined the Khalid Hamad Al Khalifa (HKH) Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Team at a Press conference at Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s Office.
Minister of Information Affairs Isa bin Abdelrahman Al Hamady, president of Gulf Sports Media Association Salem Al Habsi and other high profiles athletes attended the Press conference.
The amateur fighters are Abada Al Mulla, Atif Mohamed, Hamza Zareerah, Hussein Ayad, Hassan Ayad, Abdulla Cena, Isa Mohammed, Ibrahim Ibrahimi, Abdelaziz Monjahry, Naji Mohammed, Maitham Ahmed, Mohammed Adnan, Fahad Abdelrazaq and James Gregor.
Mohammed ‘The Hawk’ Shahid, Khabib ‘The Eagle’ Nurmagomedov, Alejandro ‘Extremo’ Soto, Islam Makhachev, Jose ‘Shorty’ Torres, Hamza Alkooheji, Eldar Eldarov and Frans Mlambo are the professional fighters.
KHK MMA team manager Mohammed Shahid thanked Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad for the unconditional support he has offered to make the team come true.

“The KHK MMA team has been a dream for all of us and if it wasn’t for Shaikh Khalid it wouldn’t be achieved. We have been given the best training and best coaches and we will work hard to achieve success at the highest level,” he said.
Shaikh Khalid also expressed his excitement about the project.
“This is the start of a new stage in this sport which is rapidly expanding in the Gulf nations. We will be developing the sports and we are aiming to keep Bahrain at the highest level.
“We will keep working forward for the benefits of the sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain and all the Arab nations. Our main aim is to support the youth of Bahrain and specially those who enjoy MMA to achieve their dreams and create a team to compete at the highest level. This will increase Bahrain’s involvement in worldwide sport,” said Shaikh Khalid.
The fighters thanked Shaikh Khalid for the opportunity he has given them to represent Bahrain.
A new team jersey was also unveiled during the Press conference. The black jersey has the team initials KHK on the top in yellow with the Bahrain emblem covering the majority of the jersey.
