Manama, Aug. 4. (BNA) – Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa launched, in the presence of the SCYS Deputy Chairman and President of the Bahrain Athletics Association Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the fifth Youth City 2030, organised by the General Organisation for Youth and Sport (GOYS) as part of its youth-oriented programmes.
This came as he patonised at the Bahrain International Exhibition And Convention Centre the opening ceremony of the fifth Youth City 2030, in the presence of a number of state officials, SCYS members and GOYS’ officials.
Shaikh Nasser highlighted the SCYS’ keenness to develop youth-oriented strategies that reflect His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s vision to put youth interests at the top of national priorities, which, he said, has promoted the kingdom’s status as a pioneer in enabling youngsters to play their real role, and train them to join the labour market in a distinguished way.
He added that the fifth edition of the Youth City 2030 is a gathering of outstanding Bahraini youths who will benefit from scientifically-based training opportunities that will enable them to acquire the needed experience to enter the labour market, reiterating his full-fledged for the Youth City out of his strong belief in the need to involve youths in the decision-making process so as to build the kingdom’s present and future and meet their expectations.
He said that the national duty requires concerted collective efforts in order to train youths and rehabilitate them.
GOYS’ President delivered a statement in which he voiced pride in attending the opening of the Youth City 2030 which he described as a “pioneering” project reflecting HM the King’s care for youths and Shaikh Nasser’s keenness to embrace them and empower them.
He pointed out that the City is a “dream come true” for Bahraini youngsters as it promotes creative thinking among them, enriches their expertise and talent and prepares them to enter the labour market.
He added that Bahrainis have every right to be proud of HM the King’s leadership, interest in youths and fatherly feelings towards them, which is often appreciated at international gatherings, urging the audience to be up to the challenges by working harder and taking part in the nation-building process so as to implement the Royal aspirations.
He paid tribute to Shaikh Nasser for his dedication in the service of Bahraini youths and constant desire to provide them with all success requirements.
The event featured an operetta, prepared by Khalid Al-Ruwaie, on the importance of taking care in youths, honing their skills and talent and rehabilitating them in the best way.
A documentary film recording the Youth City’s achievements over the past five years was also screened. an artistic show documenting the previous four editions, and an operetta.
The ceremony also included a song entitled: “Thank You Nasser bin Hamad”.
Then, sponsors of the project were honoured, and Shaikh Nasser toured the City and was informed about its various centres.
