Sheikha Fatima receives wife of Bahrain’s King

ABU DHABI: Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, on Wednesday received Princess Sabeeka Bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King of Bahrain and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), at Al Bahr Palace.

Princess Sabeeka congratulated Sheikha Fatima on the occasion of the UAE’s 43rd National Day,  wishing further progress and prosperity to the UAE leadership and people.

She hailed the close and friendly ties between the two countries and their peoples.

The meeting discussed a variety of issues concerning women and children and ways to enhance joint cooperation between women’s organisations in the two countries. Sheikha Sabeeka was briefed on the efforts being made by the State and the GWU, FDF and the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, regarding development and education of women, mothers and children as well as the knowledge and technology programmes that aim to empower women so as to serve their community.

The wife of the King of Bahrain praised Sheikha Fatima’s initiatives for the development of Emirati women in various fields, her special care for maternity and childhood and for her efforts to spread education and culture within the UAE and abroad. She also commended the prominent stature achieved by Emirati women thanks to the hard work, dedication and devotion of Sheikha Fatima.

Sheikha Fatima also hosted a dinner banquet in honour of Princess Sabeeka and her delegation.
