Manama, May 20 (BNA): Showjumping champions, who achieved first places in Bahrain Showjumping Championship in Royal Windsor Horse Show last week, were awarded by Bahrain Royal Endurance Team Director Dr. Khalid Ahmed Hassan and HH Shiakh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Media and Information Centre Head Tawfeeq Al Salehy.
First place winner was Irish rider Dermort Lemod, riding Leyovi, while the second and third places went to British riders Robert Wetker and Yasmin Bention, respectively.
Dr. Khalid Ahmed conveyed greetings of His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee Chairman HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to the winners.
He asserted that the event was a great opportunity to highlight the kingdom’s achievements in equestrian sports, supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
He said Bahrain Royal Endurance Team is keen on following the directives of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to promote the developed and civilised achievements of the kingdom in international sports arenas.
On his part, Tawfeeq Al Salehy said the international equestrian event of Royal Windsor Horse Show contributed in highlighting the great development Bahraini equestrian sports witnessed.
He said taking part in Royal Windsor Horse Show came in the field of strengthening British-Bahraini historic relations, especially during the rule of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who was keen on personally attending the equestrian festival of Windsor to support the riders of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
