Manama, Feb13(BNA) Bahrain is gearing up for the 14th anniversary of the National Action Charter, which falls tomorrow (February14). The Shura Council hailed the milestone which epitomized national unity when Bahrainis rallied to endorse the charter by a sweeping 98.4 % majority of the votes in the referendum which was held on the 14th of February 2001.
“The people of Bahrain symbolized unity at its best when they joined hands with their leader to embark on a pioneering modernisation process to turn their country in a modern state”, it said. In a statement on the eve of the 14th NAC anniversary, the council lauded loyal Bahraini people, who ushered in, through their long-standing national unity, an honourable chapter in the annals of their homeland.
The statement hailed the march of national-building which is based on an enlightened approach, a far-sighted royal vision and a future-oriented outlook which embodies Bahrain people’s ambitions and aspirations. The Upper House congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.
It also extended congratulations to loyal citizens, describing the annual anniversary as a defining moment to renew allegiance between the leader and his people and draw the inspiring lessons which will serve as a catalyst to cement national unity further and push the development momentum forward. The statement wished Bahrain security, stability and prosperity to continue the march towards consolidating democratic gains which have been achieved so far in the era of the wise leadership.
