Smooth flow of traffic across Bahrain

Manama-Oct16(BNA)The General Directorate of Traffic has reported 123 minor accidents over the first two days of Eid Al-Adha.

Bahrain roads witnessed 40 minor accidents today from 04:00 AM till 06:00 PM, but no deaths were reported, compared with 83 accidents on the first day of Eid Al-Adha.

“The number of accidents remained far below the daily average despite congestions on highways and near shopping malls”, Traffic Culture director Colonel Mousa Isa Al-Dosary said, adding that the traffic was smooth despite the huge influx of cars.

Security was beefed up as police were out in force, with mobile and fixed patrols deployed to monitor the big influx of cars via King Fahd Causeway.

The contingency plan followed instructions from the Minister of Interior to step up measures across Bahrain.

Interior Minister Undersecretary ensured the follow-up to maintain the smooth flow of traffic and avert bottlenecks, particularly near shopping malls, markets and public parks as well as on highways.

Col. Al-Dosary said that the licensing and technical sections at the General Directorate of Traffic would resume work tomorrow morning.

Police will also continue monitoring the traffic on highways and avenues across Bahrain and near shopping malls parks in addition to King Fahd causeway, with planned visits to people injured in road accidents.

Leaflets, booklets and gifts will also be distributed to road users as part of the awareness campaign to enhance their commitment to traffic rules and regulations.
