Manama, June 24 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla has reiterated Bahrain’s categorical rejection of any interference into its domestic affairs, prejudice of its Judiciary, breach of diplomatic norms and encroaching on the principle of national sovereignty, which, he said, contravene the charters of the Arab League and the United Nations as well as the principles of good neighbourliness.
The Speaker made the statements as he received here today the Iraqi Ambassador to Bahrain Dr. Ahmed Nayef Al-Dulaimi.
Al-Mulla highlighted the landmark achievements attained under the Reform Project spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at all levels, stressing that Bahrain, as a state of law and institutions, has made giant strides and launched unprecedented initiatives in many fields, including human rights, respect for cultural, religious and sectarian diversity and support and empowerment of Bahraini women.
Those strides have contributed positively to the kingdom’s stability and development, he said.
He affirmed that Bahrain and all countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) slammed the recent statements issued by some Iraqi parties, and which contained “fallacies”.
He called on brotherly Iraq to take firm and open measures to put an end to the activities of terror organisations and extremist groups which train on its territories on terrorist acts for the aim of subverting Bahrain’s security and stability.
He said he was looking forward to an official parliamentary stance by the Iraqi Parliament confirming respect for Bahrain’s sovereignty and independence, and rejecting any form of interference in its internal affairs, noting that the Kingdom has always supported brotherly Iraq’s security and stability.
He pointed out that some parties and sides were seeking to distance Iraq from its Arab belonging and identity through plans, interference and actions which have become clear to everyone, which, he stressed, is totally rejected by Bahrain, the Arab World and the brotherly Iraqi people.
Chairman of the Representatives Council’s Advisory Board Dr. Saleh Ibrahim was present.
