Amman-June29(BNA)Head of the Special Investigation Unit Chief Prosecutor Nawaf Abdulla Hamza attended the First International Conference on Combating Torture and Reduction of Pre-Trial Detention.

The global forum was held on June 26-27 under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdulla II of Jordan. The participants were updated on the experiences of countries in combating and investigating torture crime from both legislative and practical angles.

Mr. Nawaf Abdulla Hamza outlined Bahrain’s experience, stressing in this regard amended procedural and penal legislations to combat torture crimes and hold their perpetrators accountability. The session chairperson commended Bahrain’s experience, describing it as the result of a strong and serious political will to combat terrorism
