Paris, Feb8(BNA)Minister of State for Information Affairs and Government’s Official Spokesperson Samira Ibrahim bin Rajab today met French Minister for Women’s Rights and Spokesperson for the Government Najat Vallaud-Belkacem and discussed good relations bonding the Kingdom of Bahrain and France.
She gave an update on the recent political developments in Bahrain in the aftermath of His Majesty’s call to pursue the national dialogue towards reaching a consensus engaging all parties. She stressed the pioneering role of Bahrain Government’s Spokesperson, as a unique experience in the whole Arabian Gulf region and a further step undertaken by the Government of Bahrain to ensure more transparency, openness and communication with local and foreign mass media.
Bin Rajab outlined Bahraini women’s landmark strides, stressing their active participation in the Kingdom’s political, cultural, social and economic life, as stipulated in the constitution and the family law. She pointed out Bahraini women’s access to high positions, commending political and legal support and community awareness.
The French minister also outlined her experience as French Government’s Official Spokesperson, stressing the role of her office in communicating with the mass media. She outlined the challenges she is confronting as Minister for Women’s Rights, highlighting the legal reforms being undertaken by the Government to support the rights of women and the family in general. Ms. Belkacem expressed her delight at meeting Ms. Samira Ibrahim bin Rajab, commending the frank discussion highlighting women’s issues and current political developments. She hailed Bahraini women’s rights strides, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain further success.
