By A Staff Reporter –

MUSCAT — Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) showcased some of its industry-leading expertise at the 18th Middle East Oil Gas Show and Conference (MEOS 2013) in Bahrain.
The event took place under the auspices of Prince Khalifa bin Salman al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom, and had the theme of “Transforming the Energy Future.”
PDO presented six technical papers on key topics such as seismic reservoir monitoring, fluid rock characterisation, reservoir modelling and field development. The Company also had a booth explaining its operations and staff were on hand to deal with recruitment and vendor registration enquiries.
Suleiman al Mantheri, PDO’s External Affairs and Communication Manager, said: “MEOS 2013 was a fantastic platform for PDO to highlight and share some of the exciting and pioneering work we are doing in our core business area of hydrocarbon production. At the same time, it offered us the chance to learn from other oil and gas companies who may be facing similar challenges and opportunities.
“All in all, this prestigious event helps to further promote and foster the spirit of collaboration with our colleagues in the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) which is vital if we are to meet the increasing global demand for oil and gas.”
Inaugurated in 1979, MEOS is the most established exhibition of oil and gas products and services in the Middle East, attracting national and international oil companies and major operating companies. The conference, organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), is the largest and best attended technical event of its kind in the region.
The event held at the Bahrain International and Exhibition Centre was fully supported by the national oil companies of the GCC: PDO, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO), Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), Qatar Petroleum (QP) and the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco).
