France’s domination of the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket continued as Siyouma ran out a ready winner.
Following on from Sahpresa the last three years, the Francois Doumen-trained Siyouma tracked the front-running Laugh Out Loud under Gerald Mosse and kicked on going into the Dip.
Elusive Kate looked a massive threat on the outside, but she could never quite get on terms with the 12-1 winner, who had three-quarters of a length in reserve at the line.
Mosse said: “She was very well today and worked very well last week. “We were pretty confident, but I was expecting the ground to be a bit softer.
“She can go to a mile and a quarter, but a mile is best for her.”
The winner had finished third in the Falmouth Stakes on the July course earlier in the season and then run with credit behind Snow Fairy over 10 furlongs in the Prix Jean Romanet.
Connections had feared the ground may be too quick for her in the Sun Chariot, but Siyouma answered every call for her experienced rider.
Laugh Out Loud stuck on gamely for third, but the big disappointment of the race was the 13-8 favourite Beauty Parlour, who never threatened on her debut for Sir Henry Cecil.
Doumen said: “I was worried about the ground because every time she works on soft ground at home she was flying.
“When she came to run in the Falmouth she was quite immature.
“She’s the most simple thing in the world – so easy to train – and Mosse said she won with something in hand.
“She could go for the EP Taylor now as Woodbine would be a suitable track.
“There is also a mile race in Japan and then Hong Kong at the end of the year. I’m not tempted by the Breeders’ Cup.”
