Three war veterans aim to spread message of peace

THREE British war veterans are set to arrive in Bahrain for a series of events being held to remember people who have lost their lives in armed conflict.

Late Company Sergeant Louis John, Late Sergeant Allen Michael Geoffrey and Late Sapper Riley Michael Barry will travel here as guests of the Bahrain British Business Forum.

The visit of the trio, who between them have served in Bahrain, the UK, Germany, Kenya, France, Borneo, Ireland, Hong Kong and Malta, aims to spread a message of peace.

The Chelsea Pensioners, as they are affectionately known, are due to arrive on Tuesday and will be guests of honour at a Poppy Ball being held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Thursday.

Nicknamed due to their residence at the Royal Hospital in London, the Chelsea Pensioners fall under the auspices of the Royal British Legion, a UK charity that provides financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served and are still in the armed forces, and their dependants.
