Manama, Mar. 27. (BNA) — Top international drivers will descend on Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), Sakhir, to battle for podium space when the GP2 Series and Formula Middle East (FME) races take place at the 2013 Formula 1™ Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.
Race fans will be in for a scintillating treat when BIC, “the Home of Motorsport in the Middle East,” hosts exciting practice sessions, qualifying rounds and races for both championships, on April 19-20-21.
The GP2 Series showcases some of the most thrilling and exhilarating race action outside of Formula One, and it’s plain to see why the division has gained a formidable fan following since it was first introduced in 2005.
The GP2 Series will be staging its third and fourth rounds of the 2013 season in the Kingdom after opening the championship with races supporting last weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix.
Formula Middle East is a brand new single-seater championship that is being run by one of the biggest promoters in the sport, Motorsport Asia, in collaboration with BIC. The series caters to aspiring young talents from across the continent and beyond, and it is set to hold races all across the region.
Participants will be driving an FB02 car, which has been running successfully since 2003, firstly as Formula BMW and since 2010 in Asia as the JK Racing Asia Series (JKRAS).
The GP2 Series and the Formula Middle East races are being held in support of the Bahrain Grand Prix and with the action kicking off in just 23 days, fans would do well to buy their tickets at the earliest to avoid any disappointment.
Tickets are now available and they can be bought for all three days of the race weekend or for Race Day alone. All three-day ticket holders get exclusive bonuses, including access to the Pit Lane Walk activity on April 18, entry to supporting races during the Bahrain GP, access to the F1 Village to enjoy a range of entertainment and entry to concerts by international music stars Ne-Yo and Calvin Harris.
Tickets can be bought for seats at the various grandstands strategically located around BIC, including the Main Grandstand, the Turn One Grandstand, the University Grandstand, the Batelco Grandstand, and the Victory Grandstand. A Friday roaming ticket can also be bought for those looking to experience all the vantage points of the track, while tickets for the Gulf Air Club lounge offer the opportunity to watch the race in a luxury tent.
Tickets can be purchased at the BIC stands at the Bahrain Boat Show International, at the Bahrain City Centre and Seef Mall, or at the BIC Welcome Centre located at the circuit entrance. They can also be bought online at www.bahraingp.com or by calling the BIC Hotline on +973-17-450000.
