MANAMA, Bahrain – The Ministry of Culture has today held a workshop to outline its strategy to develop the sector of tourism. Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Tourism Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al-Khalifa and World Tourism Organisation (WTO) regional director Dr. Omar Abdul Ghaffar attended.
The two-day workshop is being held at the Ramee Grand Hotel and Spa in Al-Seef area, Bahrain. Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa earlier commended the cooperation between the World Tourism Organisation (WTO) and Bahrain tourism authorities and experts to promote the sector.
She stressed efforts to promote Manama’s tourism identity and ensure a place on the map of the tourism industry in the world. Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al-Khalifa underscored the importance of the strategy, stressing resolve to reach out to the private sector in promoting a ten-year tourism strategy.
He pointed out the importance of attracting tourists from neighbouring GCC countries, particularly Saudi Arabia. He paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa for his keenness on upgrading the tourism industry, being a key pillar of national economic development.
