Trade volume with Germany hits $583m

MANAMA: Trade exchanges between Bahrain and Germany have exceeded $583 million, according to figures released by the Central Informatics Organisation.

Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) second deputy chairman Jawad Al Hawaj cited the statistics as he attended a meeting at Beit Al Tijjar with a high-level German business delegation led by Federal Minister of Transport and Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Dr Peter Ramsauer.

The meeting was attended by German Ambassador Sabine Taufmann, BCCI board member Ahlam Janahi and chief executive Nabeel Al Mahmoud.

Mr Al Hawaj stressed the keenness of the private sector in Bahrain to bolster economic co-operation and enhance trade exchanges, stressing the importance of seizing investment opportunities in the two countries.

Dr Ramsauer hailed outstanding political and economic relations, stressing his country’s keenness to bolster economic co-operation and promote joint ventures. He invited private sector representatives in Bahrain to take part in key economic functions being held in Berlin, citing particularly the sixth Arab-German Forum for Education and Training on April 14 and 15, and the 18th Arab German Business Symposium from June 8 to 10.
