BAHRAINIS are all set to make their debut in the 17th Asian Games’ triathlon event, a year after the Bahrain Triathlon Association was officially founded.
In the 17th edition of the Games, scheduled to take place at Incheon, South Korea, from September 19 to October 4, two of the nation’s finest athletes will line up along with some of the continent’s best.
Nawaf Al Daen and Mohammed Al Qaisi, who have already taken part in several Ironman events, are due to compete in the 1.5km swim, 40km cycling and a 10km run.
Bahrain Triathlon Association vice-president Yousef Al Thawadi said both athletes are fully prepared after having completed a packed training programme under well-experienced triathlon coaches.
Al Thawadi noted the athletes were confident of putting a good show and thanked Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who is also a triathlete himself, for his unlimited support and encouragement.
