Two policemen were injured in a homemade bomb blast when they were securing an East Ekar neighborhood in the Bahraini capital of Manama on Tuesday afternoon, the Interior Ministry said.

The police has launched an investigation into the incident.

The blast happened several days after a similar blast that killed three policemen in Daih near Manama, including UAE officer who worked in Bahrain as part of a security agreement between the two countries.

Four main suspects in connection with Daih blast have been arrested. According to the Public Prosecution, they have confessed their crimes early this week. The punishments could be death penalty and revocation of nationality.

The Bahraini government withdrew passports of 31 Bahrainis with charges of harming the state security in 2012.

Bahrain has been facing sporadic violence since 2011. It blames various countries mainly Iran of training Shiite Bahrainis in manufacturing bombs and weapons to disrupt security and stability in the Gulf country.
