Vietnam book 2014 Women’s Asian Cup spot

Vietnam defeated Hong Kong 4-0 in Bahrain Sunday to top Group C and win a berth at the 2014 Asian Football Confederation Women’s Asian Cup.

Just like in their 8-0 win over Bahrain and 12-0 victory over Kyrgyzstan, the Vietnamese made a bright start to lead 2-0 after 10 minutes and finish the first half 3-0.

After the break they continued to hold sway over the Hong Kong women, and midfielder Tran Thi Kim Hong scored the fourth goal of the match to earn Vietnam a berth at next year’s Asian Cup.

In a match reduced to academic interest against Kyrgyzstan, hosts Bahrain won 4-1.

In Group D, Myanmar finished top to also claim a berth at next year’s event after drawing scoreless with Taiwan and leading on goal difference.

Thailand topped Group B and advanced with a 5-1 victory over Iran.
