Manama, June 21 (BNA): Volleyball committee of the first Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Sports Games and the eighth Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Football Championship (Nasser 8) held its first technical meeting yesterday, which was presided over by Bahrain Volleyball Association General-Secretary Firas Al-Halwachi and attended by Nasser 8 Contests and Fields Committees Heads Mohammed Kadhem and Ali Al Sayed and Referees Coordinator Abdulkhaliq Al Sabah.
Al Halwachi stressed on the importance of coordination between the related parties in Nasser 8 volleyball tournament, at the same time Al Halwachi appreciated the efforts paid by the committees in order bring out a successful competition, which is being held for the first time under the umbrella of Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Sports Games. The attendees confirmed the completion of preparatory and final producers including players registration, cards issuance and approving committees, referees, team colours, matches schedules and regulations.
The volleyball tournament will commence on the 24th of June and will include two matches between Bani Jamra and Bahrain National Youth Team of Group A, followed by a match between Muharraq Club and Al Najma Club of Group B. On the 25th of June Dar Kulaib and Bahrain National Youth Team will play in Group A, while Al Nasr and Al Najma Clubs play in Group B. The final two matches of the first rounds of the tournament will be held on the 26th of June between Al Nasr and Muharraq Clubs in Group B and Dar Kulaib will play Bani Jamra in Group A. The semi-final matches will be held on the 28th of June and the final match will be on the 30th.
PROMISING VIP BASKETBALL TEAM
In Nasser 8 basketball tournament, VIP Team Manager Mohammed Al Ajmi said launching the enhanced version of Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Sports Games which includes more games including basketball, volleyball and handball is an innovative and successful project as it has placed the championship among the key local sports events.
Al Ajmi praised HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee for his benevolence, patronage and efforts to provide a perfect sports environment for Bahraini youth, so they can demonstrate their talents and compete in a sportsmanship atmosphere. Al Ajmi announced that VIP team will be a strong contender in the tournament, confirming that team members have been training hard to be fit for competing for the championship title.
AUDIENCE PRIZES SUPPORTED BY CREDIMAX
The supreme organising committee of Nasser 8 awarded the audience of the football and handball tournaments. One lucky spectator won 200 BD from CrediMax in each match of the tournaments.
The committee stated that the prizes come as an appreciation to spectators’ enthusiasm and their insistence to personally attend the matches of Nasser 8, besides attracting more audience, adding the final matches will include more cash prizes.
